Winter Is Coming
The first genuine cold front of the season pushed the temps down to the low 50's. It was glorious - and it would set the scene for the short edit above. I made a short cast to an area in between a couple of lay downs, sort of an obligatory cast until the current pushed me down to the next spot. The frog was annihilated before I even started my retrieve. A few heroic jumps later she was at the boat, lipped and then swiftly returned to the river after a few photos. This fish was perfect - unblemished and really stout. A bit longer and it would have been a 7 pound fish. It was also my first time using the Kistler KLX series rod - I could get used to it. I've been using the Argon series but the american made KLX is DOPE.
It didn't take long for the fog to clear and the sun emerge but the fish didn't seem to mind either way. Joseph is holding a solid largemouth caught on an Xcite Baits XB-1, an awesome little square bill that bounces off of everything except a fishes mouth.
